European Transplant Games
The European Transplant Games (ETG) is a significant multi-sport event that brings together organ and stem cell transplant recipients, as well as individuals undergoing dialysis, from across Europe every two years.
The ETG aims to highlight the importance of sport and an active lifestyle for transplant recipients. Participants can compete in 15 different sports, showcasing their abilities and celebrating the “Gift of Life” that organ transplants represent.
Northern Ireland is a member country of the European Transplant Games Federation. Every two years, we send a team to represent Northern Ireland across a number of sports.
The Games serve not only as a sporting event but also as a platform to promote awareness about organ donation and the positive impact of sport on health and wellbeing for transplant recipients. It emphasises community, vitality, and the importance of maintaining an active lifestyle post-transplant.
Previous hosts include Lisbon, Portugal; Cagliari, Sardinia; and Vantaa, Finland.
