The World Transplant Games are an international multi-sport event held every two years, promoting sport among organ transplant recipients and raising awareness for organ donation.

They are organised by the World Transplant Games Federation (WTGF) and aim to celebrate the lives of organ transplant recipients, living donors, and donor families. The Games provide a platform for athletes who have received solid organ transplants and bone marrow transplants to compete in 17 different sports. The event emphasises the importance of physical activity and healthy living post-transplant, helping to improve the quality of life for participants.

Northern Ireland is a member country of the World Transplant Games Federation. Every two years, we send a team to represent Northern Ireland across a number of sports.

There are a number of requirements for members who wish to participate in the World Games, all of which are detailed in our members’ hub.
